Redwood City: Dedication Ceremony for Tim's House Wednesday
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 – CBS Bay City News

Tim's House, a supportive housing facility to help men stay clean and sober, will be dedicated Wednesday in a ceremony that will also honor the young man for whom the home is named.

Tim's House will be used by men ages 18 to 35 who are currently enrolled in the San Mateo County Probation Department's Bridges Program, which is an outpatient day treatment program focused on drug offenders to help them end the cycle of drug abuse.

The house is named for Tim Griffith of Redwood City, who was a successful graduate of the Bridges program. Griffith was killed in 2004 outside of SBC Park after a San Francisco Giants game.

Stacey Redman, Griffith's mother, founded the Tim Griffith Memorial Fund in her son's honor.

"We started the foundation shortly after Tim died, and we decided as one of our main focuses that we would help to provide a place to live that would allow the men of Bridges a clean and sober environment," Redman said.

Tim's House is a result of a collaboration between the Tim Griffith Memorial Fund, the Service League of San Mateo County, and San Mateo County's Bridges Program.

Wednesday's ceremony participants will include Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, and representatives from the office of Congresswoman Jackie Speier, D-San Francisco/San Mateo, Redwood City Council, Superior Court of San Mateo, the San Francisco Giants and more.

The ceremony is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The house is located at 926 Fourth Ave. in Redwood City.
